Hadith 7079

أَخْبَرَنَا شَبَابُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ بِوَاسِطَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ لِي وَلِعَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : انْطَلِقَا إِِلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، فَاسْمَعَا مِنْ حَدِيثِهِ ، فَأَتَيْنَاهُ ، فَإِِذَا هُوَ فِي حَائِطٍ لَهُ ، فَلَمَّا رَآنَا جَاءَ ، فَأَخَذَ رِدَاءَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَعَدَ ، فَأَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُنَا حَتَّى أَتَى عَلَى ذِكْرِ بِنَاءِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نَحْمِلُ لَبِنَةً وَعَمَّارٌ لَبِنَتَيْنِ لَبِنَتَيْنِ لَبِنَتَيْنِ " فَرَآهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَعَلَ يَنْفُضُ التُّرَابَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ ، وَيَقُولُ : يَا عَمَّارُ ، أَلا تَحْمِلُ مَا يَحْمِلُ أَصْحَابُكَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : إِِنِّي أُرِيدُ الأَجْرَ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، فَجَعَلَ يَنْفُضُ التُّرَابَ عَنْهُ ، وَيَقُولُ : " وَيْحُ عَمَّارٍ ، تَقْتُلُهُ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ ، يَدْعُوهُمْ إِِلَى الْجَنَّةِ ، وَيَدْعُونَهُ إِِلَى النَّارِ " ، فَقَالَ عَمَّارٌ : أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الْفِتَنِ .
Ikrimah narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me and his son Ali: Both of you go to Sayyiduna Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and listen to hadith from him. We went to him and he was in his garden. When he saw us, he came over, took his cloak, and then sat down. He began to converse with us until the mention of the construction of the mosque came up. He said: We used to carry one brick each, and Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to carry two bricks at a time. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he began to dust the dirt off his head and said: O Ammar! Why do you not carry only as much as your companions are carrying? He replied: I am seeking reward from Allah Almighty. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while dusting the dirt off him, said: Woe to Ammar! He will be killed by a rebellious group. He will call them to Paradise, and they will call him to Hellfire. So Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I seek refuge with Allah from tribulations.
