Hadith 7069

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ يَحْتَزُّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سِوَاكًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ ، وَكَانَ فِي سَاقَيْهِ دِقَّةٌ ، فَضَحِكَ الْقَوْمُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا يُضْحِكُكُمْ مِنْ دِقَّةِ سَاقَيْهِ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، إِِنَّهُمَا أَثْقَلُ فِي الْمِيزَانِ مِنْ أُحُدٍ " .
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was breaking a miswak from the Pilu tree for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). His shins were thin, so the people laughed. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are you laughing at the thinness of his shins? By Him in Whose hand is my soul, these two (shins) will be heavier in the scale on the Day of Judgment than the mountain of Uhud.
