Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I used to graze the goats of Uqbah bin Abi Mu’ait. Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me while I was a boy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: O boy, is there any milk? I replied: Yes, but I have been entrusted (with them). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Is there any goat which has not been mated by a male (i.e., whose milk has not yet come down)? The narrator says: I brought such a goat to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over its udder, and milk descended into it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) milked it into a vessel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it and gave it to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to drink as well. Then he said to the udder: Retract, and it retracted. I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), teach me this act as well. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over my head and said: May Allah have mercy on you, you are a learned boy.
