Aamir bin Abdullah narrates: When the time of death of Sayyiduna Salman al-Khair (that is, Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi, may Allah be pleased with him) approached, people noticed anxiety in him. The people asked: O Abu Abdullah! Why are you anxious? While you have the honor of being foremost in goodness. You participated in battles alongside the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and took part in great victories. Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi replied: This thing is making me anxious, that when our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) departed from us, he took a covenant from us. He said: "It is sufficient for any one of you for a day to have only as much as a rider's provision for travel." So this is what is making me anxious. Then, when the wealth of Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) was gathered, its value was fifteen dinars. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Aamir is Aamir bin Abd Qais, and Salman al-Khair refers to Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him).
