Hadith 7055

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ ، فَوَضَعْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَهُورًا ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ وَضَعَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ : عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ فَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ ، وَعَلِّمْهُ التَّأْوِيلَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I was present in the house of Sayyida Maymunah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her). I placed water for ablution for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He asked: Who placed this? Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: Abdullah did. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: O Allah! Grant him understanding of the religion and knowledge of the interpretation of the Qur'an.
