Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Banu Qurayza accepted Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) as an arbitrator. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), and he came riding on a donkey. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Stand up for your best person (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) stand up for your chief. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These people have accepted you as an arbitrator. So Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I give the verdict about them that their fighting men should be killed and their children should be taken as captives. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have given the decision according to Allah Almighty's judgment about them. On one occasion, the narrator reported these words: You have given a king-like decision about them.
