Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Amr bin Jamuh (may Allah be pleased with him) presented himself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of the Battle of Uhud. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), whoever is martyred today will enter Paradise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes. He said: By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I will not return to my family, rather I will enter Paradise. So Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: O Amr, do not swear by Allah’s name on this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umar, leave him, for there are some people who, if they swear by Allah’s name, Allah fulfills that for them, and among them is Amr bin Jamuh. (Later the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said about him:) He is diving in the pool of Paradise.
