Ibn Hibban
المقدمةIntroduction
باب الاعتصام بالسنة وما يتعلق بها نقلا وأمرا وزجرا - ذكر ما يجب على المرء من ترك تتبع السبل دون لزوم الطريق الذي هو الصراط المستقيم-Chapter: Holding fast to the Sunnah – Obligation to avoid following other paths and to stick to the straight path.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمُعَدِّلُ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : خَطَّ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُطُوطًا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ وَقَالَ : " هَذِهِ سُبُلٌ ، عَلَى كُلِّ سَبِيلٍ مِنْهَا شَيْطَانٌ يَدْعُو لَهُ " ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ : وَأَنَّ هَذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ وَلا تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ ، فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ سورة الأنعام آية 153 الآيَةَ كُلَّهَا .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line in front of us, and on its right and left he drew some other lines as well. He (peace be upon him) said: These are different paths, and on each of these paths there is a devil sitting, calling towards that path. Then he (peace be upon him) recited this verse: “Indeed, this is My path, which is straight. So follow it, and do not follow other paths, for they will separate you from His path.” This is the complete verse.
