Hadith 6948

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ بِنَسَا ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أبيه ، قَالَ : " خَطَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَاطِمَةَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِِنَّهَا صَغِيرَةٌ ، فَخَطَبَهَا عَلِيٌّ ، فَزَوَّجَهَا مِنْهُ " .
Ibn Buraidah narrates from his father: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a marriage proposal for Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is young." Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a proposal for her, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married her to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
