Hadith 6936

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ إِِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ بْنِ يَرِيمَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ قَامَ ، فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، " لَقَدْ فَارَقَكُمْ أَمْسِ رَجُلٌ مَا سَبَقَهُ الْأَوَّلُونََ وَلا يُدْرِكُهُ الآخِرُونَ ، لَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَبْعَثُهُ الْمَبْعَثَ ، فَيُعْطِيهِ الرَّايَةَ ، فَمَا يَرْجِعُ حَتَّى يَفْتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ، جِبْرِيلُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَمِيكَائِيلُ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ ، مَا تَرَكَ بَيْضَاءَ وَلا صَفْرَاءَ إِِلا سَبْعَ مِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَضَلَتْ مِنْ عَطَائِهِ ، أَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ بِهَا خَادِمًا " .
Hubairah bin Yareem narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) standing and delivering a sermon to the people. (This was the day after the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him.) He said: "O people! Yesterday, a person departed from you whom none could surpass, and those who come after cannot reach him. Allah's Messenger sent him on an expedition and gave him the flag, and he did not return until Allah granted him victory. Jibreel was on his right side and Mikaeel was on his left side. He did not leave behind anything of white or yellow (i.e., gold or silver), except for seven hundred dirhams which remained from his salary, and he intended to buy a servant with it."
