أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرِّشْكِ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَرِيَّةً وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَلِيًّا ، قَالَ : فَمَضَى عَلِيٌّ فِي السَّرِيَّةِ ، فَأَصَابَ جَارِيَةً ، فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : إِِذَا لَقِينَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرْنَاهُ بِمَا صَنَعَ عَلِيٌّ ، قَالَ عِمْرَانُ : وَكَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِِذَا قَدِمُوا مِنْ سَفَرٍ بَدَءُوا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَنَظَرُوا إِِلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُونَ إِِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَتِ السَّرِيَّةُ سَلَّمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَامَ أَحَدُ الأَرْبَعَةِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا صَنَعَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ آخَرُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا صَنَعَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ آخَرُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا صَنَعَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَأَقْبَلَ إِِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْغَضَبُ يُعْرَفُ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، فقَالَ : مَا تُرِيدُونَ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ ثَلاثًا " إِِنَّ عَلِيًّا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ ، وَهُوَ وَلِيُّ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ بَعْدِي " .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out a military expedition and appointed Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as its commander. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went on this expedition and had relations with a slave woman. The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered this act of his to be wrong. They said: When we present ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we will inform him about what Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) has done. Sayyiduna Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Muslims would return from any journey, they would first present themselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), greet him, visit him, and then return to their residences. When that expedition returned, they greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One of those four individuals stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Did you not notice that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did such and such? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. Then the second person stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Did you not notice that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did such and such? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also turned away from him. Then another person stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Did you not notice that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did such and such? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards them, and signs of anger were visible on his face. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What do you want regarding Ali? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times. Indeed, Ali is from me and I am from Ali, and he is the beloved of every believer after me.
