Hadith 6890

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ ، رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَيْهِمْ قُمُصٌ ، مِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ الثَّدْيَيْنِ ، وَمِنْهَا مَا هُوَ أَسْفَلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، وَعُرِضَ عَلَيَّ عُمَرُ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ يَجُرُّهُ ، فَقَالَ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ : مَا أَوَّلْتَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : الدِّينُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Once I was asleep and I saw that people were being presented before me, and they were wearing shirts; some shirts reached up to the chest, and some were a little below that. Then Umar was presented before me, and his shirt was dragging on the ground." The people around the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! How did you interpret this?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Religion."
