أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَن رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ ، رَأَيْتُنِي فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، فَإِِذَا امْرَأَةٌ تَوَضَّأُ إِِلَى جَانِبِ قَصْرٍ ، فَقُلْتُ : لِمَنْ هَذَا ؟ فَقَالَتْ : لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، فَذَكَرْتُ غَيْرَةَ عُمَرَ ، فَوَلَّيْتُ مُدْبِرًا " ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَبَكَى عُمَرُ وَنَحْنُ جَمِيعًا فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَجْلِسِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : بِأَبِي أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَعَلَيْكَ أَغَارُ ؟ قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ فِي هَذَا الْخَبَرِ : بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ ، وَفِي خَبَرِ جَابِرٍ : أُدْخِلْتُ الْجَنَّةَ : أُدْخِلَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْجَنَّةَ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ ، فَرَأَى قَصْرَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَسَأَلَ عَنِ الْقَصْرِ ، فَأَخْبَرُوهُ أَنَّهُ لِعُمَرَ ، وَبَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَائِمٌ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى ، إِِذْ رَأَى كَأَنَّهُ أُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ وَإِِذَا امْرَأَةٌ إِِلَى جَانِبِ قَصْرٍ تَتَوَضَّأُ ، فَسَأَلَ عَنِ الْقَصْرِ ، فَقَالَتْ : لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، لَفْظُ خَبَرِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ بِخِلافِ لَفْظِ خَبَرِ جَابِرٍ ، فَدَلَّكَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَنَّهُمَا خَبَرَانِ فِي وَقْتَيْنِ مُتَابَيِنَيْنِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَكُونَ تَضَادٌّ وَلا تَهَاتُرٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Once I was asleep and I saw myself in Paradise. There was a woman performing ablution at the edge of a palace. I asked: Whose palace is this? The woman replied: It belongs to Umar ibn al-Khattab. Then I remembered Umar's temperament and his strictness, so I turned back and left from there." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, states: Then Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and all of us who were present in that gathering began to weep. Then Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: O Messenger of Allah! May my father be sacrificed for you, would I ever be angry with you?
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In this narration, it is mentioned: "During the time that I was asleep," whereas in the narration transmitted from Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, the words are: "I was made to enter Paradise." So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was made to enter Paradise at the time when he was taken on the Mi'raj, and there he saw the palace of Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, and inquired about that palace. The angels informed him that it belonged to Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asleep, this was a second incident, when he saw in a dream that he was made to enter Paradise, and there beside a palace was a woman performing ablution. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, inquired about that palace, and the woman replied: It belongs to Umar ibn al-Khattab. These words of the narration are transmitted by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, and are different from the narration transmitted by Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him. So this will guide you to the fact that these are two narrations about two different occasions, and thus there remains no contradiction or difference between them.
