Hadith 6876

أَخْبَرَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، وَسَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ ، إِِذْ قَدِمَتْ عِيرٌ إِِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَابْتَدَرَهَا أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْهُمْ إِِلا اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلا ، مِنْهُمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ ، وَنَزَلَتِ الآيَةُ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon when a caravan (that is, a caravan of goods) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah. The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) hurried towards it until only twelve people remained, among whom were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). At that time, this verse was revealed (that is, the last verses of Surah Jumu'ah).
