أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى بِالْمَوْصِلِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، عَنْ أبيه ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْأَلُهُ شَيْئًا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : ارْجِعِي إِِلَيَّ ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَإِِنْ رَجَعْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ تُعَرِّضُ بِالْمَوْتِ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي ، فَالْقَيْ أَبَا بَكْرٍ " .
Muhammad bin Jubair narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut’im, may Allah be pleased with him): A woman came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). She asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about something (or requested something from him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: Go back and come to me later. She submitted to the Prophet (peace be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! If I come again and do not find you? The woman meant, if you have passed away, then what should I do? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr.
