Hadith 6792

Nafi reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw Ibn Sayyad in one of the streets of Madinah Munawwarah. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) spoke harshly to him and began to scold him, so he swelled up so much that he blocked the path. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) struck him with a stick, which calmed him down until he returned to his original state. Then he swelled up again until he blocked the path. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) struck him again with the stick he had with him, until he broke it on him. Then Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): "What is your connection with him? Why does he make you angry? Did you not hear the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Dajjal will emerge because of the anger that will befall him.'"

(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The seeing of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and his striking was in the sense that Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him) will also strike with a stick. This incident occurred during the blessed life of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
