Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Madinah will be deserted despite all its excellence, until a dog will come and (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) eat something near a pillar of the mosque or near the pulpit. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who will use its fruits at that time? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The beasts. (The narrator says:) By this are meant the birds and wild animals."
