Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once we were present with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was distributing something. During this, a man from the tribe of Banu Tamim, named Dhu al-Khuwaysirah, came and said: O Messenger of Allah! Be just. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Woe to you! If I do not act justly, then who will act justly? Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Allow me regarding him so that I may strike his neck. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Leave him, for he will have companions such that you will consider your prayers insignificant compared to their prayers, and your fasts insignificant compared to their fasts. They will recite the Qur'an, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will go out of Islam just as an arrow passes through its target. When its tip is examined, nothing is found there; when its edge is examined, nothing is found there; when its binding (the place where the string is tied to the arrowhead) is examined, nothing is found there; when its nadi (the part between the arrowhead and the feathers) is examined, nothing is found there, though it has surpassed dung and blood. (The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:) The specific sign of these people is a black-skinned man whose one arm will be like a woman's breast, and it will be like a shaking piece of flesh. These people will appear at the time of discord among the people. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I bear witness to this: We heard this from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and I also bear witness to this: Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) fought against these people, and I was with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) at that time. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered that this man be searched for, and he was found. When he was brought and I examined him, he was exactly as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had described him.
