Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abdullah bin Amr! What will be your condition when you remain among the leftover (i.e., lowly) people?" He asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Who will those people be?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When their covenants and trusts become mixed up and they become like this." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) interlaced his fingers to illustrate this. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Then what should I do?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do what you consider to be good, and leave what you consider to be evil, and work only for yourself, and leave the common people (to their own state)."
