Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Musaylimah came with a large army until they camped in a date-palm garden. News of this reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that he (Musaylimah) was saying: "If Muhammad (peace be upon him) appoints me as his successor after him, I will follow him." The narrator says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came, and with him was Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas. In the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was a branch. He came and stood by Musaylimah, then he said: "If you ask me for this branch, I will not give it to you, and if you turn away and leave, Allah will cut off your feet. This Thabit will answer you on my behalf. I thought about you that you are the same person who was shown to me in a dream."
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I inquired about the dreams of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) told me: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Once I was sleeping, and I was shown in a dream that there were two gold bracelets on my hands. I became very worried because of them, so it was revealed to me to blow on them. I blew on them, and both flew away. I interpreted this as referring to the two great liars who will appear after me. One is Ansi, who is from Sana'a, and the other is Musaylimah, who is from Yamamah."
