أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ الْحَكَمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ لِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ : " أَيُّ يَوْمٍ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ، قُلْتُ : يَوْمَ الاثْنَيْنِ ، قَالَ : إِِنِّي لأَرْجُو أَنْ أَمُوتَ فِيهِ ، فَمَاتَ يَوْمَ الاثْنَيْنِ عَشِيَّةً ، وَدُفِنَ لَيْلا .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away in my house, on the day allocated to me, while he was leaning between my chest and neck. Allah Almighty combined my saliva with his saliva. (The son of Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him) Abdur Rahman entered the house, and he had a miswak which he was chewing. I took that miswak, chewed it, and then passed it over the teeth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
