Hadith 659

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَسْرُوقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُؤَاخِذُنِي وَعِيسَى بِذُنُوبِنَا ، لَعَذَّبَنَا وَلا يَظْلِمُنَا شَيْئًا " ، قَالَ : وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If Allah were to call me and ‘Isa (Jesus) to account for our sins and punish us, He would not be doing us any injustice." The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, indicated this by gesturing with his index finger and the finger next to it.
