Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, those people set out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would combine the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and also combine the Maghrib and Isha prayers. The narrator says: One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the prayer, then he came out (from his place of stay). He performed the Zuhr and Asr prayers together, then he (went back inside his place of stay and then came out again), then he performed the Maghrib and Isha prayers together. Then he said: If Allah wills, tomorrow you will reach the spring of Tabuk. You will reach it when the day has risen. Whoever arrives there should not take anything from its water until I arrive. The narrator says: When we reached there, two men had already arrived before us. The spring was like a strap (thin), from which a little water was flowing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked both of them: Did you use its water? Both replied: Yes. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) expressed displeasure with both of them and said to them whatever Allah willed. Then the people, with their hands, collected a little water from the spring until the water gathered in a container. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face and both hands in that vessel. Then he poured that water back into the spring, and a lot of water began to flow from it, and the people drank from that water. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Mu’adh, soon your life will be long and you will see (that because of this water) there will be many gardens here.
