أَخْبَرَنَا الْخَلِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ بِنْتِ تَمِيمِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَصِرِ بِوَاسِطٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : تُوُفِّيَ أَبِي وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ ، فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَى غُرَمَائِهِ أَنْ يَأْخُذُوا التَّمْرَ بِمَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَأَبَوْا ، وَلَمْ يَرَوْ أَنَّ فِيهِ وَفَاءً ، فأتيت النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِِذَا جَدَدْتَهُ ، فَوَضَعْتُهُ فِي الْمِرْبَدِ ، فَآذِنِّي " ، فَلَمَّا جَدَدْتَهُ ، وَوَضَعْتُهُ فِي الْمِرْبَدِ ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَاءَ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرُ ، فَجَلَسَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَدَعَا بِالْبَرَكَةِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " ادْعُ غُرَمَاءَكَ ، فَأَوْفِهِمْ " ، قَالَ : فَمَا تَرَكْتُ أَحَدًا لَهُ عَلَى أَبِي دَيْنٌ إِِلا قَضَيْتُهُ ، وَفَضَلَ ثَلاثَةَ عَشَرَ وَسْقًا : سَبْعَةٌ عَجْوَةٌ ، وَسِتَّةٌ لَوْنٌ ، فَوَافَيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَغْرِبَ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَضَحِكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ : " ائْتِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، فَأَخْبِرْهُمَا ذَلِكَ " ، فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُمَا ، فَقَالا : إِِذْ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا صَنَعَ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا أَنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ ذَلِكَ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: My father passed away. He was in debt. I offered the creditors that they could take the dates in exchange for the debt my father owed, but they did not accept this. In their opinion, this would not fulfill the payment in full. I went to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). I mentioned this matter before him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you harvest the dates and store them in the warehouse, inform me. (The narrator says:) When I harvested them and stored them in the warehouse (or the place for drying), I went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him about it. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came. With him were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sat by the pile (of dates). He prayed for blessing, then he said: Call your creditors and pay them in full. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I paid all the debts owed by my father, and still thirteen loads (of dates) remained. Seven wasqs were of Ajwa dates and six wasqs were of Lawn dates. I performed the Maghrib prayer with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter before him, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled. He said: Go to Abu Bakr and Umar and inform them about this. I went to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and informed them about this, so both of them said: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed that action, we already realized that this would happen.
