Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to (his wife) Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her): I have noticed a weakness in the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from which I have realized that he is hungry. Do you have anything (that we can present to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to eat)? The woman replied: Yes. The woman took out a few pieces of barley bread, then she took her scarf and wrapped some of the bread in it and placed it under my arm. She covered me with part of it and then sent me to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I took it and went. I found the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sitting in the mosque. Some people were with him. I came and stood among those people. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: Has Abu Talhah sent you? I replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: For food? I replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to those present with him: Get up. The narrator says: All these gentlemen set out. I walked ahead of them and came to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah and informed him about it. So Sayyiduna Abu Talhah said: O Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her)! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is coming with people. We do not have enough to feed them. So Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The narrator states: Then Sayyiduna Abu Talhah went and met the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came with him until both of them entered the house. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: O Umm Sulaym! Present whatever you have. So Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) brought the bread. At the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), it was broken into pieces. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) squeezed the container in which there was ghee over it, and it became a curry. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited over it whatever Allah willed, then he said: Allow ten men to enter. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah permitted them to enter. Those people ate the food until they were full, then they left. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allow ten men to enter. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) permitted them. They also ate the food until they were full, then they left. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Tell ten men to enter. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) permitted them as well. They also ate the food until they were full, then they left. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Tell ten men to enter, until all the people had eaten and eaten to their fill. The number of those people was seventy or perhaps eighty.
