Hadith 6529

أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِقَصْعَةٍ مِنْ ثَرِيدٍ ، فَوُضِعَتْ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْقَوْمِ ، فَتَعَاقَبُوهَا إِِلَى الظُّهْرِ مِنْ غُدْوَةٍ ، يَقُومُ قَوْمٌ وَيَجْلِسُ آخَرُونَ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لِسَمُرَةَ : أَكَانَ يُمَدُّ ؟ ! فَقَالَ سَمُرَةُ : " مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَتَعَجَّبَ ؟ مَا كَانَ يُمَدُّ إِِلا مِنْ هَا هُنَا ، وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِِلَى السَّمَاءِ " .
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A bowl of tharid was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It was placed before the people, and people kept coming to it one after another from morning till noon. When some people would get up, others would come and sit. A person asked Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him): Was it increasing? Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: What are you amazed at? It was only increasing from that side. He pointed towards the sky with his hand and said this.
