Hadith 6506

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى التَّيْمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَدَّادُ ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ الْعَلاءِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَقُومُ إِِلَى جِذْعٍ ، فَيَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَأَنَّهُ لَمَّا صَنَعَ الْمِنْبَرَ تَحَوَّلَ إِِلَيْهِ ، فَحَنَّ الْجِذْعُ ، فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَمَسَحَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to deliver the Friday sermon while leaning against the trunk of a date-palm tree. When he had a pulpit made and moved towards it, that trunk began to weep. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to it and placed his blessed hand upon it.
