أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ النَّرْسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ الْمَلأَ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ اجْتَمَعُوا فِي الْحِجْرِ ، فَتَعَاقَدُوا بِاللاتِ وَالْعُزَّى وَمَنَاةِ الثَّالِثَةِ الأُخْرَى وَنَائِلَةَ وَإِِسَافٍ : لَوْ قَدْ رَأَيْنَا مُحَمَّدًا ، لَقُمْنَا إِِلَيْهِ قِيَامَ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ ، فَلَمْ نُفَارِقْهُ حَتَّى نَقْتُلَهُ ، فَأَقْبَلَتِ ابْنَتُهُ فَاطِمَةُ تَبْكِي حَتَّى دَخَلَتْ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : هَؤُلاءِ الْمَلأُ مِنْ قَوْمِكَ قَدْ تَعَاقَدُوا عَلَيْكَ ، لَوْ قَدْ رَأَوْكَ ، قَامُوا إِِلَيْكَ فَقَتَلُوكَ ، فَلَيْسَ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ إِِلا عَرَفَ نَصِيبَهُ مِنْ دَمِكَ ، قَالَ : يَا بُنَيَّةُ ، " إِِيتِينِي بِوَضُوءٍ " ، فَتَوَضَّأَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ ، قَالُوا : هَا هُوَ ذَا ، هَا هُوَ ذَا ، فَخَفَضُوا أَبْصَارَهُمْ ، وَسَقَطَتْ أَذْقَانُهُمْ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ ، فَلَمْ يَرْفَعُوا إِِلَيْهِ بَصَرًا ، وَلَمْ يَقُمْ إِِلَيْهِ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ ، فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى قَامَ عَلَى رُءُوسِهِمْ ، فَأَخَذَ قَبْضَةً مِنْ تُرَابٍ ، وَقَالَ : شَاهَتِ الْوُجُوهُ ، ثُمَّ حَصَبَهُمْ ، فَمَا أَصَابَ رَجُلا مِنْهُمْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْحَصَى حَصَاةٌ إِِلا قُتِلَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Some people from the Quraysh gathered in Hatim and swore an oath by the names of Lat, Uzza, Manat, Na’ila, and Isaf (idols), making a pact that if they saw Sayyiduna Muhammad, they would all come together before him and would not leave him until they had martyred him. The daughter of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Sayyida Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her), came weeping and presented herself before the Prophet (peace be upon him). She said: These people of your tribe have decided against you that when they see you, they will stand against you and will martyr you. In this way, each one of them will take his share of your blood. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O my daughter, bring me water for ablution. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed ablution and proceeded to the mosque (near the Sacred House, i.e., the Ka’bah). When those people saw the Prophet (peace be upon him), they said: This is he, this is he. Then they lowered their gazes and their chins stuck to their chests. None of them looked up at the Prophet (peace be upon him), and none of them stood up before him, until the Prophet (peace be upon him) came and stood by them. He took a handful of dust and said: May their faces be disfigured. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) threw that dust upon them, and whichever pebble from that dust reached any one of them, that person was killed on the day of the Battle of Badr.
