Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There was a man among those before you who had not stored any good deeds for the sake of Allah Almighty. When he was about to die, he said to his sons: O my sons! What kind of father was I to you? They replied: You were the best father. The man said: When I die, burn me, then crush me, and when a strong wind is blowing, scatter me. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: That man died, and it was done to him as he had asked. Allah Almighty said to him: Be (as you were), and he stood up as a human even before the blink of an eye. Allah Almighty said: O My servant, why did you do this? He replied: O my Lord! Out of fear of You. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty rewarded him by forgiving him." The narrator named Mu'tamir states: My father narrated this to me. I related this narration to Abu 'Uthman Nahdi, and he said: Sulaiman narrated this hadith to me in the same way, but he added these words: "You should throw me into the river."
