Hadith 6475

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي شَدَّادُ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى كِنَانَةَ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِِسْمَاعِيلَ ، وَاصْطَفَى قُرَيْشًا مِنْ كِنَانَةَ ، وَاصْطَفَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ، وَاصْطَفَانِي مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، فَأَنَا سَيِّدُ وَلَدِ آدَمَ وَلا فَخْرَ ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ تَنْشَقُّ عَنْهُ الأَرْضُ ، وَأَوَّلُ شَافِعٍ ، وَأَوَّلُ مُشَفَّعٍ " .
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah Almighty selected Kinana from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma’il (peace be upon him). From Kinana, He selected Quraysh. From Quraysh, He selected Banu Hashim. And from Banu Hashim, He selected me. I am the leader of all the children of Adam, and I do not say this out of pride. The earth will be split open for me first. I will intercede first, and my intercession will be accepted first.”
