أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِِنِّي لَبِعُقْرِ حَوْضِي أَذُودُ عَنْهُ لأَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ ، أَضْرِبُ بِعَصَايَ حَتَّى يَرْفَضَّ " ، فَسُئِلَ عَنْ عَرَضِهِ فَقَالَ : " مِنْ مَقَامِي هَذَا إِِلَى عَمَّانَ " ، وَسُئِلَ عَنْ شَرَابِهِ فَقَالَ : " أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ ، وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ ، فِيهِ مِيزَابَانِ يُمَدَّانِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، أَحَدُهُمَا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، وَالآخَرُ مِنْ وَرِقٍ " ، قَالَ بُنْدَارٌ : فَقُلْتُ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ حَمَّادٍ : هَذَا حَدِيثُ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ ؟ فَقَالَ : قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ أَيْضًا ، فَقُلْتُ : انْظُرْ لِي فِي حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ ، فَنَظَرَ فِيهِ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ .
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I will stand near my Hawd (cistern) and will drive away some people of Yemen from it. I will strike them with my staff so that they move back." (The narrator states) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the width of this Hawd, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "From where I am standing to Oman (the distance is as wide as that)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about its drink, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its drink will be whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. This Hawd will have two channels coming from Paradise. One of them will be made of gold and the other of silver." The narrator named Bandar says: I said to Yahya bin Hammad: Is this the narration transmitted by Abu Awanah? He replied: I heard this narration from Abu Awanah himself. I said: Please check for me the narration transmitted by Shu'bah. He searched for this narration in it and then narrated this hadith.
