Hadith 6440

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : سَأَلَهَا رَجُلٌ هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْمَلُ فِي بَيْتِهِ ؟ قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ ، كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَخْصِفُ نَعْلَهُ ، وَيَخِيطُ ثَوْبَهُ ، وَيَعْمَلُ فِي بَيْتِهِ كَمَا يَعْمَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي بَيْتِهِ " .
It is narrated about Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a person asked her: Did the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) do household chores? She replied: Yes. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to mend his own shoes, sew his own clothes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do all those household tasks that any person does in his own house.
