Husain bin Abdur Rahman narrates: I was present with Saeed bin Jubair. He asked us, "Who among you saw that star which fell last night?" The narrator says: I replied, "I did." I was not in a state of prayer at that time, rather, I had been bitten by a poisonous creature. He asked, "Then what did you do?" I replied, "I performed ruqyah (incantation)." He asked, "Why did you do that?" I replied, "Because of the hadith which Imam Sha’bi narrated to us." He asked, "What hadith did Sha’bi narrate to you?" I said, "He narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah bin Husaib Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: Ruqyah is only for the evil eye or fever."
Then Saeed bin Jubair said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) told us the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Various nations were presented before me. I saw a prophet with a few followers, a prophet with one follower, and a prophet with none. Meanwhile, a large group of people passed before me, so I thought perhaps this was my Ummah, but it was said that this is Musa (peace be upon him) and his people. Now look towards the horizon." When I looked in that direction, there was a huge crowd. Then I was told, "Look to the other side," and there too was a huge crowd. Then I was told, "This is your Ummah, and with them are seventy thousand people who will enter Paradise without any reckoning or punishment."
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and went inside his house. The people began to ponder about this. They said, "Who are those people who will enter Paradise without any reckoning?" Some of them said, "Perhaps they are those who had the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." Others said, "Perhaps they are those who were born in Muslim households and never associated anyone with Allah." Thus, people mentioned various opinions. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them and asked, "What are you discussing?" The people informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about their conversation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are those who do not cauterize (themselves for treatment), do not perform ruqyah (with unlawful words), do not seek omens, and put their trust in their Lord." Sayyiduna Ukasha bin Mihsan Asadi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Pray that I be among them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You are among them." Then another person stood up and said, "(O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!) Pray that I be among them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Ukasha has preceded you."
