Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Questions were asked of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) until he was troubled by the questioning. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Ask me questions! By Allah, whatever you ask me about, I will explain it to you." The narrator says: So the people stopped. They feared that some great incident might occur. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We began to look right and left; whoever we saw had covered his head with his garment and was weeping. The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept saying: "Ask me questions. By Allah, whatever you ask me about, I will explain it to you." A man stood up in a corner of the mosque and asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Who is my father?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Your father is Hudhafah." Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah! We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad (peace be upon him) as our Messenger (that is, we believe in this), and we seek refuge with Allah from the evil of tribulations." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I have never seen good and evil together as I have today. Paradise and Hell have just been presented before me. I saw them both beyond this wall."
