Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When food from someone else's house was brought to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he would inquire about it. If it was said that it was a gift, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would eat it with us, and if it was said that it was charity, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would say: "You people eat it," and the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself would not eat it.
