Hadith 6373

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًَا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَعْطَاهُ غَنَمًا بَيْنَ جَبَلَيْنِ ، فَأَتَى الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَيْ قَوْمِ ، أَسْلِمُوا ، فَوَاللَّهِ إِِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُعْطِي عَطَاءَ رَجُلٍ مَا يَخَافُ الْفَاقَةَ ، وَإِِنْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ لَيَأْتِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يُرِيدُ إِِلا دُنْيَا يُصِيبُهَا ، فَمَا يُمْسِي حَتَّى يَكُونَ دِينُهُ أَحَبَّ إِِلَيْهِ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and he (the Prophet) gave him sheep that were between two mountains. That man went to his people and said: O my people! Accept Islam, by Allah! Muhammad (peace be upon him) gives so much to a person that he no longer fears poverty.
(Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates:) Sometimes a person would come to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) (to accept Islam). His only purpose was to gain worldly benefit, but then it would happen that his religion would become more beloved to him than the world and all that is in it.
