أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِِنَّ لِي أَسْمَاءً : أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، وَأَنَا أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَنَا الْمَاحِي الَّذِي يَمْحُو اللَّهُ بِيَ الْكُفْرَ ، وَأَنَا الْحَاشِرُ الَّذِي يُحْشَرُ النَّاسُ عَلَى قَدَمِهِ ، وَأَنَا الْعَاقِبُ الَّذِي لَيْسَ بَعْدَهُ نَبِيٌّ " ، وَقَدْ سَمَّاهُ اللَّهُ رَءُوفًا رَحِيمًا .
Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut’im رضي الله عنه narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم: “I have some names, I am Muhammad, I am Ahmad, I am Maahi (the one who erases), through me Allah Almighty has erased disbelief, and I am Haashir, all people will be gathered at my feet, and I am ‘Aaqib, after whom there will be no prophet.” (The narrator says:) Allah Almighty has also mentioned your name as Ra’oof and Raheem.
