أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْخَطَّابِيُّ بِالْبَصْرَةِ ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ بِالصُّغْدِ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَشَدَّ حَيَاءً مِنَ الْعَذْرَاءِ فِي خِدْرِهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا فَاسْأَلْ ، عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا فَاسْأَلْ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي عُتْبَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشَدَّ حَيَاءً مِنَ الْعَذْرَاءِ فِي خِدْرِهَا ، وَكَانَ إِِذَا كَرِهَ شَيْئًا ، عَرَفْنَاهُ فِي وَجْهِهِ " .
Ahmad bin Sinan narrates: I asked Abdur Rahman bin Mahdi, I said: O Abu Saeed! The Prophet (peace be upon him) was more modest than a veiled virgin girl. He replied: Yes, ask such questions, ask such questions. Shu’bah narrated from Qatadah, from Abdullah bin Abu Utbah, from Sayyiduna Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) this statement: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) was more modest than a veiled virgin girl. When something displeased him, we could perceive it on his face."
