Ibn Hibban

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I saw ‘Amr bin ‘Amir Khuza‘i dragging his intestines in Hell. He was the first person to initiate the practice of dedicating animals in the name of idols." Sa‘id bin al-Musayyib says: Sa’ibah is that animal which is dedicated in the name of an idol and is not made to carry any load. Bahirah is that animal whose milk is dedicated for idols and no person is allowed to milk it. Wasilah is that young she-camel which gives birth to a she-camel for the first time and then again gives birth to a she-camel the second time; they would dedicate this she-camel to idols and call it Wasilah because the two (female offspring) are joined together (i.e., there is no male offspring in between). Ham refers to that male camel which has been used for mating ten times; when it completes its mating, they would dedicate it in the name of idols and would not load anything on it, nor would they put any burden on it, and its name would be Ham.
