Hadith 6259

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ ، " جَلَسَ فِي مُصَلاهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ، وَكَانُوا يَجْلِسُونَ ، فَيَتَحَدَّثُونَ ، وَيَأْخُذُونَ فِي أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَيَضْحَكُونَ وَيَتَبَسَّمُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: After performing the Fajr prayer, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would remain seated on his prayer mat until the sun rose. During this time, the people would also remain seated. They would converse with each other and laugh by recalling incidents from the days of ignorance, while the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would only smile.
