Hadith 6256

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي كَبْشَةَ السَّلُولِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بَلِّغُوا عَنِّي وَلَوْ آيَةً ، وَحَدِّثُوا عَنْ بَنِي إِِسْرَائِيلَ وَلا حَرَجَ ، وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا ، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَوْلُهُ : " بَلِّغُوا عَنِّي وَلَوْ آيَةً " ، أَمْرٌ قَصَدَ بِهِ الصَّحَابَةَ ، وَيَدْخُلُ فِي جُمْلَةِ هَذَا الْخَطَّابِ مَنْ كَانَ بِوَصْفِهِمْ إِِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي تَبْلِيغِ مَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ عَنْهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُوَ فَرْضٌ عَلَى الْكِفَايَةِ ، إِِذَا قَامَ الْبَعْضُ بِتَبْلِيغِهِ ، سَقَطَ عَنِ الآخَرِينَ فَرْضُهُ ، وَإِِنَّمَا يَلْزَمُ فَرْضِيَّتَهُ مَنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ مِنْهُ مَا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ عِنْدَ غَيْرِهِ ، وَأَنَّهُ مَتَى امْتَنَعَ عَنْ بَثِّهِ ، خَانَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَحِينَئِذٍ يَلْزَمُهُ فَرْضُهُ ، وَفِيهِ دَلِيلٌ عَنْ أَنَّ السُّنَّةَ يَجُوزُ أَنْ يُقَالَ لَهَا : الآيُ ، إِِذْ لَوْ كَانَ الْخَطَّابُ عَلَى الْكِتَابِ نَفْسِهِ دُونَ السُّنَنِ ، لاسْتَحَالَ لاشْتِمَالِهِمَا مَعًا عَلَى الْمَعْنَى الْوَاحِدِ ، وَقَوْلُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَحَدِّثُوا عَنْ بَنِي إِِسْرَائِيلَ وَلا حَرَجَ " ، أَمْرُ إِِبَاحَةٍ لِهَذَا الْفِعْلِ مِنْ غَيْرِ ارْتِكَابِ إِِثْمٍ يَسْتَعْمِلُهُ ، يُرِيدُ بِهِ : حَدِّثُوا عَنْ بَنِي إِِسْرَائِيلَ مَا فِي الْكِتَابِ وَالسُّنَّةِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَرَجٍ يَلْزَمُكُمْ فِيهِ ، وَقَوْلُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا " ، لَفْظَةٌ خُوطِبَ بِهَا الصَّحَابَةُ ، وَالْمُرَادُ مِنْهُ غَيْرُهُمْ إِِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، لا هُمْ ، إِِذِ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلا نَزَّهَ أَقْدَارَ الصَّحَابَةِ عَنْ أَنْ يُتَوَهَّمَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْكَذِبُ ، وَإِِنَّمَا قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا ، لأَنْ يَعْتَبِرَ مَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ ، فَيَعُوا السُّنَنَ وَيَرْوُوهَا عَلَى سُنَنِهَا ، حَذَرَ إِِيجَابِ النَّارِ لِلْكَاذِبِ عَلَيْهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Convey from me, even if it is a single statement. And narrate from the Children of Israel, there is no sin in that. And whoever deliberately attributes a lie to me, let him prepare his abode in Hell.”

(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): “Convey from me, even if it is a single verse,” is a command intended for the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). However, within the generality of this command are included all those people who will come until the Day of Judgment, who, after the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), will convey the commands of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And this is considered a communal obligation (fard kifayah); when some people fulfill the duty of conveying, the obligation is lifted from the rest. And its obligation becomes necessary upon the person who possesses such knowledge that others do not have; when such a person refrains from spreading his knowledge, he is guilty of betraying the Muslims, and in this case, the obligation becomes incumbent upon him. In this is evidence that the word “verse” (ayah) can be used for the Sunnah, because if the words of the narration were only about the command of the Book and not about the Sunnah, then it would not be possible for both to have the same meaning. And the statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): “Narrate from the Children of Israel, there is no harm in that,” is in the imperative form, but it is to declare the permissibility of this action, provided that no sin is committed through it. And what is meant by this is that you may narrate those reports from the Children of Israel whose content is found in the Book and the Sunnah; in that case, there will be no harm upon you. The statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): “Whoever deliberately attributes a lie to me,” is, in wording, addressed to the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), but what is meant is all people until the Day of Judgment. Only the Companions are not intended, because Allah Almighty protected the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) from engaging in falsehood. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said this so that those who come after the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), while acquiring, preserving, and narrating the knowledge of the Sunnah, should be mindful of its status and rank, and should strive to avoid the consequence of Hell that results from deliberately attributing a lie to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
