Hadith 6242

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شَدَّادُ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى كِنَانَةَ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِِسْمَاعِيلَ ، وَاصْطَفَى قُرَيْشًا مِنْ كِنَانَةَ ، وَاصْطَفَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ، وَاصْطَفَانِي مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، فَأَنَا سَيِّدُ وَلَدِ آدَمَ وَلا فَخْرَ ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ تَنْشَقُّ عَنْهُ الأَرْضُ ، وَأَوَّلُ شَافِعٍ ، وَأَوَّلُ مُشَفَّعٍ " .
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah Almighty selected Kinana from among the descendants of Isma’il (peace be upon him), and from the descendants of Kinana He selected the Quraysh, and from the Quraysh He selected Banu Hashim, and from Banu Hashim He selected me. Thus, I am the leader of the children of Adam, and I do not say this out of pride. Rather, (on the Day of Resurrection) the earth will be split open for me first, and I will intercede first, and my intercession will be accepted first.”
