Hadith 6232

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " عُرِضَ عَلَيَّ الأَنْبِيَاءُ ، فَإِِذَا مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ ضَرْبٌ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ رِجَالِ شَنُوءَةَ ، وَرَأَيْتُ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ ، فَإِِذَا أَقْرَبُ النَّاسِ وَأَشَدُّهُ شَبَهًا عُرْوَةُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، وَرَأَيْتُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، فَرَأَيْتُ أَقْرَبَ النَّاسِ شَبَهًا صَاحِبَكُمْ ، يَعْنِي نَفْسَهُ ، وَرَأَيْتُ جِبْرِيلَ ، فَإِِذَا أَقْرَبُ النَّاسِ وَأَشْبَهُ النَّاسِ بِهِ شَبَهًا دِحْيَةُ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The Prophets were presented before me, so Musa (peace be upon him) was like a man from the tribe of Shanu’ah. Then I saw ‘Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him), and he resembled ‘Urwah ibn Mas‘ud. Then I saw Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and he resembled your companion." (The narrator says: By 'your companion', the Prophet (peace be upon him) meant himself.) "I saw Jibril, and his appearance was like that of Dihyah."
