Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever I heard something from the tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Allah the Exalted would grant me benefit through it as He willed, until Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a hadith to me. Whenever any of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated a hadith to me regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I would make him swear an oath, and if he took the oath, I would accept his statement as true. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a hadith to me, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke the truth. He informed me: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever commits a sin, then performs ablution and offers two units of prayer, and then seeks forgiveness from Allah the Exalted for that sin, Allah the Exalted grants him forgiveness."
