أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بَيْنَمَا أَيُّوبُ يَغْتَسِلُ عُرْيَانًا ، أُمْطِرَ عَلَيْهِ جَرَادٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَجَعَلَ أَيُّوبُ يَحْثِي فِي ثَوْبِهِ ، فَنَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ : يَا أَيُّوبُ ، أَلَمْ أُغْنِكَ عَمَّا تَرَى ؟ قَالَ : بَلَى ، وَلَكِنْ لا غِنَى لِي عَنْ رَحْمَتِكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Once Sayyiduna Ayyub (peace be upon him) was bathing naked. During this, a shower of locusts made of gold fell upon him. Sayyiduna Ayyub (peace be upon him) began gathering them in his clothes. His Lord called out to him, 'O Ayyub! Did I not make you independent of what you see?' He replied, 'Yes, but I am not independent of Your mercy.'"
