أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّ رَجُلا أَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا ، فقَالَ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، أَذْنَبْتُ ذَنْبًا أَوْ قَالَ : عَمِلْتُ عَمَلا فَاغْفِرْ لِي ، فقَالَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى : " عَبْدِي عَمِلَ ذَنْبًا فَعَلِمَ أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ ، وَيَأْخُذُ بِهِ ، قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لِعَبْدِي ، ثُمَّ أَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا آخَرَ أَوْ قَالَ : عَمِلَ ذَنْبًا آخَرَ ، قَالَ : رَبِّ إِنِّي عَمِلْتُ ذَنْبًا فَاغْفِرْ لِي ، فقَالَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى : عَلِمَ عَبْدِي أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ وَيَأْخُذُ بِهِ قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لِعَبْدِي ، ثُمَّ عَمِلَ ذَنْبًا آخَرَ أَوْ أَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا آخَرَ ، فقَالَ : رَبِّ إِنِّي عَمِلْتُ ذَنْبًا فَاغْفِرْ لِي ، فقَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى : عَلِمَ عَبْدِي أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ وَيَأْخُذُ بِهِ ، أُشْهِدُكُمْ أَنِّي قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لِعَبْدِي فَلْيَعْمَلْ مَا شَاءَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A man committed a sin, then he said: O my Lord! I have committed a sin. (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) I have done a deed, so forgive me. Allah Almighty said: My servant has committed a sin, he knows that he has a Lord who can forgive sins and can also punish for them, so I have forgiven My servant. Then that person committed another sin. (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) He committed another sin, so he said: O my Lord! I have committed a sin, so forgive me. Allah Almighty said: This My servant knows that he has a Lord who can forgive sins and can also punish for them, so I have forgiven My servant. Then that person again committed that sin. (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) He committed some other sin, then he said: O my Lord! I have committed a sin, so forgive me. Allah Almighty said: My servant knows that he has a Lord who can forgive sins and can also punish for them. O angels! I make you witnesses that I have forgiven My servant, now let him do whatever he wishes.”
