Hadith 6215

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، وَعَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، رَفَعَهُ أَحَدُهُمَا إِِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ كَانَ يَدُسُّ فِي فَمِ فِرْعَوْنَ الطِّينَ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَقُولَ : لا إِِلَهَ إِِلا اللَّهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates as a marfu’ hadith to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) was stuffing clay into Pharaoh’s mouth out of fear that he might recite «لا إِلهَ إِلَّا الله».”
