Hadith 621

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ عَجْلانَ مَوْلَى الْمُشْمَعِلِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : ذَكَرُوا الْفَرَحَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرُوا الضَّالَّةَ يَجِدُهَا الرَّجُلُ ، فقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَلَّهُ أَشَدُّ فَرَحًا بِتَوْبَةِ أَحَدِكُمْ مِنَ الضَّالَّةِ يَجِدُهَا الرَّجُلُ بِأَرْضِ الْفَلاةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The people mentioned happiness in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then they mentioned a lost thing which a person finds. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah is more pleased with the repentance of any one of you than a person who finds his lost thing in a barren land."
