Hadith 6188

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْرُورِ بْنِ سَيَّارٍ بِأَرْغِيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ الأَزْرَقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِِنِّي لأَجِدُ فِي صَدْرِيَ الشَّيْءَ لأَنْ أَكُونَ حُمَمَةً أَحَبُّ إِِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ أَمْرَهُ إِِلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I feel such a thought in my mind that I would prefer to be burnt to coal rather than speak about it. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, all praise is due to Allah who has turned his matter towards a mere whisper.
