أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ آدَمَ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ الرُّوحَ عَطَسَ ، فَقَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ بِإِِذْنِ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ : يَرْحَمُكَ رَبُّكَ يَا آدَمُ ، اذْهَبْ إِِلَى أُولَئِكَ الْمَلائِكَةِ إِِلَى مَلأٍ مِنْهُمْ جُلُوسٍ ، فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَقَالَ : السَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَقَالُوا : وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّلامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِِلَى رَبِّهِ ، فَقَالَ : هَذِهِ تَحِيَّتُكَ وَتَحِيَّةُ بَنِيكَ بَيْنَهُمْ ، وَقَالَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلا وَيَدَاهُ مَقْبُوضَتَانِ : اخْتَرْ أَيَّهُمَا شِئْتَ ، فَقَالَ : اخْتَرْتُ يَمِينَ رَبِّي وَكِلْتَا يَدَيْ رَبِّي يَمِينٌ مُبَارَكَةٌ ، ثُمَّ بَسَطَهُمَا ، فَإِِذَا فِيهِمَا آدَمُ وَذُرِّيَّتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَيْ رَبِّ ! مَا هَؤُلاءِ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : هَؤُلاءِ ذُرِّيَّتُكَ ، فَإِِذَا كُلُّ إِِنْسَانٍ مِنْهُمْ مَكْتُوبٌ عُمْرُهُ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ ، فَإِِذَا فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ أَضْوَؤُهُمْ ، أَوْ مِنْ أَضْوَئِهِمْ ، لَمْ يَكْتُبْ لَهُ إِِلا أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ، قَالَ : يَا رَبِّ ، مَا هَذَا ؟ ، قَالَ : هَذَا ابْنُكَ دَاوُدُ ، وَقَدْ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عُمْرَهُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ، قَالَ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، زِدْهُ فِي عُمْرِهِ ، قَالَ : ذَاكَ الَّذِي كَتَبْتُ لَهُ ، قَالَ : فَإِِنِّي قَدْ جَعَلْتُ لَهُ مِنْ عُمْرِي سِتِّينَ سَنَةً ، قَالَ : أَنْتَ وَذَاكَ ، اسْكُنِ الْجَنَّةَ ، فَسَكَنَ الْجَنَّةَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، ثُمَّ أُهْبِطَ مِنْهَا ، وَكَانَ آدَمُ يَعُدُّ لِنَفْسِهِ ، فَأَتَاهُ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ : قَدْ عَجِلْتَ ، قَدْ كُتِبَ لِي أَلْفُ سَنَةٍ ، قَالَ : بَلَى ، وَلَكِنَّكَ جَعَلْتَ لابْنِكَ دَاوُدَ مِنْهَا سِتِّينَ سَنَةً ، فَجَحَدَ ، فَجَحَدَتْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُ ، وَنَسِيَ ، فَنَسِيتْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُ ، فَيَوْمَئِذٍ أُمِرَ بِالْكِتَابِ وَالشُّهُودِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty created Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) and breathed the soul into him, he sneezed. He said: 'Alhamdulillah.' He praised Allah by Allah's command. So his Lord said to him: 'Your Lord has mercy on you, O Adam. Go to that group of angels who are sitting and greet them.' So Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) said: 'Assalamu Alaikum.' The angels replied: 'Wa Alaikum Assalam wa Rahmatullah.' Then Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) returned to his Lord, so the Lord said: 'This is the way of greeting for you and your descendants.' Allah Almighty had both His hands closed. Allah Almighty said: 'Choose whichever of these two you wish.' So Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) said: 'I prefer my Lord's right hand, although both of my Lord's hands are right and blessed.' Then the Lord spread both hands, and in them were Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) and his progeny. Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) asked: 'O my Lord, who are these people?' Allah Almighty said: 'These are your descendants. The age of each person is written between his two eyes.' Among those people was a person with a radiant face, whose age was written as only forty years. Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) said: 'O my Lord, who is this?' Allah Almighty said: 'This is one of your descendants, Dawud. Allah Almighty has fixed his age at forty years.' Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) said: 'O my Lord, increase his age.' The Lord said: 'I have fixed it for him.' Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) said: 'I give him sixty years from my own age.' Allah Almighty said: 'You and he (that is, your wife) will live in Paradise.' So as long as Allah willed, they remained in Paradise, then they were expelled from there. Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) kept counting his age, then the Angel of Death came to him. Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) said: 'Have you not come early? My age was a thousand years.' The Angel of Death said: 'Yes, but you gave sixty years of it to your son Dawud.' So Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) did not accept this, and for this reason his descendants also deny. Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) forgot, and for this reason his descendants also forget. So on that day, it was ordered to write down (the agreement) or to appoint a witness."
